  There is a certain genre of movie which I call “kid discovers or gets taken away to some sort of fantasy land” in which it was almost certain that the writer experienced some sort of childhood trauma that caused them to constantly dream up scenarios where their life was better and or someone came to save them. Narnia, Harry Potter, polar express, where the wild things are, etc. To me , this has always felt like one of those. Coincidentally those were my favorite kind of movie as a kid.

Following
