So disappointing. There was so much potential with the story, cast, and director, but in the end it just felt hollow and lazy. Come on Disney!
I don’t really enjoy Lanthimos’ films, but I’m glad they exist.
I wasn't expecting much going in, so I was surprised when Brigsby Bear suddenly became my favorite movie of Sundance 2017. Kyle Mooney and his crew craft a perfectly balanced tale of new beginnings and not giving up on what you love. Humor is abundant where it should be, along with a surprising amount of heart. It all comes together to make one of the best written indie films of the year so far. I'm excited to see what these guys do next!
Beautifully chilling. The ambience and symbolism at play here was very intriguing to me right from the start. Thelma pulled me in slowly, (with incredible restraint given the supernatural premise) and never let up. The last few scenes were especially thrilling. I have to check out more of Joachim Trier’s work ASAP!
