  While The Substance is as surreal and extreme as you've heard, that's the point. The violence inflicted is upon the body as a result of tying to change to match standards the world set and you thus adopted. The constant comparison and yearning to be the 'better version' of yourself, results directly in a complete breakdown of the person you were. There is no subtlety, but its a layered and universal message.

  The first episode was so funny, thrilling, and intriguing. Loved the spy thriller aspect and all the fun transitions and visual elements that come with Park Chan-Wooks direction. Incredible visual effects, and just visually pleasing in general. Will update once series ends.
