  General thoughts: Edge-of-my-seat underwater rescue sequences, an enthralling true story, and great performances by a great cast. Emotion comes right from the absolute heroism of the divers and their mission. Not very much development and detail with the characters, but unnecessary with a story this good. Get enough background of the characters to understand their feelings on a surface-level. Ron Howard’s direction was fantastic, and the details put into production design, specifically of the cave, were incredible. However, with such a sprawling story, the movie jumps around too much sometimes. Even with some issues, I am a sucker for these sort of thrillers.
