    Whenever Bill Paxton looks up at the sky with his scowl, you know some shit is about to go down. He and Helen Hunt absolutely sell this movie. They convince you they are actually fighting against those very dated CGI effects.

    I also love that this movie just throws you in the action. Paxton just drives up with his new fiancée looking for a divorce, and then before we know it, we're storm chasing. Shine on, indeed.

    Kurt Russell easily slips back into Snake's skin. John Carpenter's political message is a little sharper this time around with the presidential villain being a blatant stand-in for Pat Robertson. The ending hits a lot harder than the original's. We get go watch death basketball! So what goes wrong here? The awful CGI effects really undo all of the things the movie does get right. This was bad even by 90s standards.
