What a delightful film, but I really miss the London setting. On paper it’s a good idea to bring Paddington back to his roots and show us where he comes from but I wish more time would have been spent with Aunt Lucy and the Browns (character we have grown to love) instead we get a mix of Jungle Cruise and Indiana Jones, entertaining at times but nothing we haven’t seen before. I wish the ending (reunion with his family) would have hit a bit deeper, it was sweet but felt hollow for me.

What a morbid little film. I understand it’s satirical comedy but I found the book way more funnier with more tension stemming from trying not get caught and the near constant threats of starvation. The movie brushes that aside for more action and extra screen time for Mark Ruffalo’s character Kenneth Marshall and Toni Collette as his wife (non existent in the novel). For me it was the weakest part, a bit over the top and each scene just reinforcing…
This is one tough lady, brimming with care, life and passion. Lhakpa Sherpa is an extraordinary person, and she deserves all the recognition and praise. With that said I felt that the documentary barely skimmed the surface, playing out more like a broad news story rather than a deep dive of who she is as a person and what drives her.
The film cuts from planning and executing her 10th summit of Mt Everest to her backstory of growing up…
Like beating a dead horse. Nonsensical plot with no real emotional stakes, relying too heavily on troops and lackluster ‘robot smash’ ‘gun goes zap zap’ action sequences. Had a few funny gags and some stunning visuals but that’s it.
