The scene arriving to New York foreshadows the story of how the rich exploit forgeigners. It could be interpreted that way. The tension in the music and performances was well incorporated. The depth of the performances is notable: Adrian Brody as László Tóth, Felicity Jones Erzsébet, and Guy Pearce's Harrison Lee Van Buren.

Her husband, Thomas Hutter, is sent to Transylvania to get the paperwork in order for Count Orlok to move to a rundown mansion in Germany. Unbeknownst to Hutter is that his employer, Herr Knock who's in compact with Orlok, has sent him.
