  I had read the book prior to seeing the film, and Jolie did not miss any key details from the book. This film is the best book to film adaptation I have ever seen.
  Additionally, Angelina Jolie accurately depicted the Khmer Rouge genocide and destruction of Khmer culture. The flashbacks showcase the beauty of Khmer culture, specifically the Apsara dancers. The cinematography was exceptional as It really puts the audience in Loung's thoughts and her experience.
