Band of Brothers 2001
Band of Brothers transcends traditional storytelling, yet rawfully succeeds because of how authentically true it remains to American history and tradition, whether in production or theme. It is a homage to willpower, brotherhood, and the realities in-between. The documentarian style only furthers the realization of how real the struggle was amid World War II, complimented tellingly through the relentless silence of warfare. Each episode portrays what other war tales do not, and while such narratives have their own singular effective…

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish 2022
There are so many variables to appreciate within Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Not only does it subvert various tropes with ease, every narrative element serves a meaningful thematic purpose as it energetically interjoins well-written personalities and their conflicting interests. Flic 2005
Our imagination holds no bounds, even through the binding realms of reality. Flic foregrounds its humanly existentialist narrative to create a mind-twisting work of conflicting perceptions. Distant camera angles almost resemble the film’s stubborn intent…

Past Lives 2023
An utterly beautiful rejection of every romantic norm one could think of. Past Lives defines emotional maturity to its very core, and executes realism to its finest degree. It's rare to see a film embrace this level of sentimental awareness, let alone completely stray away from the theatrical idealisms many thrive off of. I could only wish for more future stories of the same genre to follow the exemplar standard it sets. Disregarding every temptation for convenient intimacy is what makes the film feel all the more believably intimate.
