Ooh to be 9 going on 10 again. Wanting to grow up, living in a packed house constantly bickering with my siblings, having a mom that’s trying to keep everything together in the house, and a dad that’s too lax about problems in our household. I also hated when my mom made black-eyed peas for dinner… Even though I didn’t grow up in a community like Troy’s, Crooklyn feels really nostalgic when it comes to black girl childhood.
