Starts with promise but quickly fades into existential quackery. The script is sharp enough but the narrative is boring to bits.

Three months in and I'm pretty confident that I will not see a better film this year. Winner at the Oscars for Best International Film (should have won more), "I'm Still Here" is a heartbreaking family drama centered around the military dictatorship of early 1970s Brazil.
The film focuses on the abduction of Rubens Paia, a middle class father of five charismatic children who spend their days playing volleyball on the beach.

I could not get into this. The film never really goes anywhere for a long time and the much vaunted final half hour never really appealed to me.
A film full of metaphor for Generation X and the soulless lives they lead.
As Brad Pitt said, "Fight Club is a metaphor for the need to push through the walls we put around ourselves and just go for it, so for the first time we can experience the pain."
