I went looking for this year's Oscars nominees on Netflix but came across this and decided to watch it instead. What a fantastic film. Julianne Moore is terrific, as always. As this movie follows the progression of a disease so many of us are all too familiar with, it grew more and more depressing throughout. But I loved every minute of it.
I kind of wish I had waited a few weeks to watch this movie so I could appreciate the Christmas season vibe more, but I could never say I regret watching The Holdovers. This movie reminded me of the John Hughes movies my mom got me into when I was a kid: The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller, etc. I cried a few times, but I think each tear shed was justified. The story is cute, the acting is phenomenal, and the ending is perfect. I am now in the Christmas spirit and it is only October 17...
