A cowardly apolitical film, exploiting the landscape of America’s partisan political climate, but too terrified to make any meaningful statements. Only interested in indulging in the fantasy of embarking on a civil war themed amusement park ride.

Everything about this experience was viscerally unsettling. This film has one of the most disturbing and complex parent/child dynamics I’ve ever seen; and more so than many other movies I’ve seen recently, is one of the better examples of visual storytelling. The visual metaphors, although overt, were very functional and fitting for the tone and narrative.

Tilda Swinton’s performance felt effortless and natural, as per usual and Ezra Miller’s titular character of Kevin made the hairs on my arms stand up. This kid shook me. This film shook me, and it’s going to be lingering in my subconscious for the next few days.
