A Real Pain 2024
Quite rightly Kieran Culkin got a lot of praise for his performance in this. However, I’m not sure the humour and poignant moments gelled well together, it just didn’t feel as well made as it possibly could’ve been. Some of the dialogue felt clunky. It’s still a good film but I think given the Oscar buzz I expected more.

From a purely film stand point - it starts off with a certain charm and then just dwindles into a bit of a mess, the ending tries to be really poignant but is just a cop out. The pacing is all over the place towards the end but credit where credit is due I think Marisa Abela smashed it despite the outcry surrounding her casting (which I get)

For all the clever editing and the lovely found footage/BTS/film segments, the excellent build of tension, it’s all sort of undone at the end by showing too much.
