  ★★★★ Rewatched 27 Mar 2025

  Used to be in my Four Favourites, but had to demote it after this rewatch. Hadn’t seen it in a few years, and for some reason it didn’t quite land with me as it previously had done. I still love the narrative, and in particular the use of colour throughout. However I just found Theo’s character a bit whiny this time and the phone sex scene is quite cringe. Still a great film though!

  Truly, truly dog shit. Forsakes all the charm of the first for a rushed cash grab sequel. If anything, this makes them seem deeply incompatible rather than the ‘happy’ ending they think it provides. Hate to see it.

  A beautifully shot and wonderfully nostalgic glimpse into childhood friendship, shared familial grief and how that plays out amongst generations. Sciamma is quickly cementing herself as one of my favourite directors, along with Claire Mathon as one of my favourite cinematographers. Magnifique 👌🏻
