Loved the first act. I enjoyed the whole thing but wished it had more sincerity and humanity towards the end. Felt a little distant. It posed a few incredibly thought provoking questions about identity etc in the first half. But then didn’t really face them head on when it came time.
But I’ll take all the 16mm writer/director movies I can get!
Probably my favorite of 23. I knew I was going to love this within the first 10 minutes. An instant classic. A warm blanket. Dead Poets Society meets The Last Detail.
Perfect score, perfect cast. Authentic period emulation. No retro gimmicks. Loved it.
