  A great and topical movie abut a president losing his fucking marbles on his way out of the White House. Nixon calling Kissinger “Dr. Shit-Ass” and a “Fat whoremonger” is all the proof you need that he was several thousand times cooler than Trump.

  Val Lewton is the undisputed GOAT, but, as much as I loved the atmosphere and vibe of this one, it felt cut to hell (possibly out of a desire to stay on the right side of the Hayes Code?). 

  Not big on movies where you have to have done homework going in, but it’s hard to see how the whole crux of the plot is intelligible without at least some knowledge of the Palladists and the Taxil Hoax. 

  Nevertheless, it’s very bleak and very cool. A real stellar entry in the Feel Bad movie canon.
