Smile 2 2024
The gore actually got to me, extremely well done, and the music and performances were amazing. Very well paced too, the film keeps up the excitement throughout, but maybe I’m just complimenting the music again for that. Overall, awesome, Naomi Scott should be so proud of her performance because she gave everything.

Betrays itself to lean into more generic slasher conventions: more kills, more explosions, more gore, but to what end? That’s always been my gripe with this film, but on a recent viewing, I can appreciate it to a certain extent. There is definitely a lot of tension here, even with Michael not stalking anyone besides maybe Laurie this time around. I very rarely make spoiler reviews but this movie’s ending is dense and more than worth talking about. I have a lot of opinions about this movie.
I’m going to preface by saying I consider myself a fan of Brian Jordan Alvarez’s work, that’s part of the reason I decided to watch this movie. I love The Gay and Wondrous Life of Caleb Gallo, I sat through Grandmother’s Gold, but this movie… just sorta misses the mark.
