Easily in the top 3 worst movies of 2024, it'd get one star, but seeing King Hammerhand hulk out for a scene or two was pretty entertaining. JRR Tolkien is rolling in his grave to this
Daisy Ridley's performance in this is so subtle, so powerful, and so relatable to anyone who's every been deeply untrusting and unconfident in themselves. The direction and the way the cast is guided into their roles is so thought out and the story is still so natural. Hats off to the gaffer and dp. There's an upsettingly bad wine pour sound bit halfway through the film and that's about the most I could critique here.
I can't process all the ways I love this movie. I avoided it for years having heard about how depressing it was and I regret having held off. Any child of divorce should watch this film to feel a little more complete and understood. Noah Baumbach holy shit.
