A stylistic and surprisingly attentive movie considering what it could have been.
Despite it’s lack of nuisance I believe the feminist messages are important and the film is self aware, on many occasions breaking the fourth wall to allow some of the more ‘preachy’ moments to be played off as a joke while still letting the messages ring through. The film is explicit with barbie’s place in feminist history and is the start of barbie’s character arc.
