Full of tension and so many bullies. The movie was very unbelievable at times. It tried to do a lot of what the substance did but fell flat. It was unable to deliver a message in the way the substance did. But it was engaging enough to warrant an average rating.

Pan's Labyrinth 2006
This movie made me feel a sense of heaviness. Ofelia’s story was such a tragedy. Her father died, her step dad was a sadist, she lives in a war torn time, she worried for her mother yet her mother invalidated her sense of joy and fantasy then died… and Ofelia dies at the end after the fantasy world and the real world abandons her. I wonder if del Toro wants us to wonder if the fantasy was really all in her head. It was an escape for her - but it would be nice if she does live on as a Princess.

Mulholland Drive 2001
Endless respect for the work of art this movie is… and the themes and imagery within themes and imagery. The complexity is either too much to handle…. Or it is all very simply a dream or in a character’s head. Either way, I enjoyed it and will definitely be rewatching. Just not my personal favorite
