  90's nostalgia for those who weren't alive in the 90's.
  As an elder millennial, easy to see this a semi-relatable tale of aging into obsolescence, nostalgia, failure, perception of time, garbled memories of childhood and formative media etc.
  Also very easy to read as a trans story for Smith's character - unable or unwilling to ever be who they really are, trapped and struggling forever.
  UGLY shades of cyan and magenta everywhere, a failed vapourwave aesthetic.
  Stylists were like "Which gay haircut should we give her?". "Yes."
