See How They Run 2022
I settled down to this enjoyable caper after a typical trawl through the various streaming services. A run of the mill “whodunit” is no bad thing on a Sunday evening but this is enlivened by an excellent turn from Saoirse Ronan as the plucky constable who dovetails well with Sam Rockwell’s gruff inspector. The whole cast looks like they’re having fun and it proves infectious as the action plays out. Encore!

We’re shipping up to Boston this time for the tale of the notorious “Whitey” Bulger. Johnny Depp turns in his trademark prosthetic covered performance that’s a little too over the top to be truly convincing. The real gem here is Joel Edgerton’s turn as disgraced cop John Connolly. Not as good as goodfellas and not as bad as Gotti, fans of the genre will be satisfied while newcomers will be impressed.
