The film's only response to how unlikeable the characters are seems to be "but they're poor," and that doesn't change the fact that the children actors constantly shriek and yell, in addition to bring crude, obnoxious, and bratty. A quite odd combination of (ironic?) pop songs, an over abundance of characters (despite leaving Jessica Chastain and Bella Thorne‘s roles on the cutting room floor), and a somewhat disoriented narrative structure. But despite those things, the performances are generally good and the good moments outweigh the bad.
