Sitting on the cold kitchen floor, embracing a rice cooker gifted by your estranged lover with your whole body, and then going on to sneak out of your bed the same night to read a poem written to you for you by another man - this is what women want when urged to 'do it for the plot'. There needs to be poetry (literally and metaphorically), always - otherwise, it is a largely redundant effort.
