Has anyone noticed that they were wearing sneakers during the fight scene between Hassan and Jikiri on the rocky shoreline?! Understandable because even I can’t walk barefooted on those rocks. Aside from that, the ending message of unity between any colour or religion was very admirable and progressive for a 50s Filipino film.

Panoramic and compelling. Despite clocking in 3 hours and 47 minutes, Lav Diaz manages to keep the audience glued to the screen. The fascinating long shots are shown in ample amount of time that makes you appreciate every single thing in the frame even the smallest things. Charo Santos-Concio's return to acting after a 17-year hiatus is definitely worth it. Her role as Horacio/Renata is benevolent as she constantly helps marginalized people she befriended and at the same time, she prepares for her long-overdue revenge. Her tokens of kindness were done in a seemingly way to equate her impending vengeance towards her ex-lover.

Titularly inspired by Book of Daniel, it focuses on the perceived prejudice and discrimination by religious townsfolk towards an insane woman and a leper. It's such an irony that the Christian association, laden with constant gossiping, poses the most hypocrisy among them all. I just love Lolita Rodriguez's performance. She portrays Kuala with very poignant body language and facial expressions filled with confusion and helplessness.
