  When Alan Moore wrote Rorschach for "Watchmen", he explicitly wanted to show what kind of a person grimdark Batman would be if he existed in the real world: socially stunted to the point of psychopathy, thinking in black and white, only reined in by a rigid code.
  I had to think of this when The Batman started to recite his diary entry.
