  Wild at Heart 1990

  I don't love David Lynch, but having now seen several of his films over the course of my life, I can appreciate the recurring themes, vibes, and imagery a bit more. Is he showing us the perverted underbelly of American society? Are we really like this, or is he showing us a nightmare close enough to reality to frighten us even more than something purely fantastical? Watching his movies isn’t comfortable, but I appreciate his cohesive vision.

  I didn't connect with this movie very much. Over the top random sci-fi hodge podge not very funny weirdness. I felt the same way about Snowpiercer. I prefer the director's talents in a more restrained, taut film like Parasite.

  I was fully expecting to hate this since I don't even enjoy musicals generally, but I quite liked it. This is setting aside comments made by the director and the lead actress, and watching it with the understanding that the film's intention is not to teach me about Mexico and various political and social situations, but rather to portray the journey and development of a few women. I did find some of the accents / non-native Spanish to be jarring.…

  Entertaining but I thought it would be far smuttier and show more dom / sub action. Judging by the awkward laughter in the audience, not everyone has been exposed to seeing even this much in movies before.
