Man: What color's the Masked Bandit's white horse?
Kid: Black.
Indeed, black as the night.
Who is the Masked Bandit?
Your dad.
He's dead.
Indeed, I'm the masked bandit.
Daddy!
Seen many times, though never on a big screen, and always enjoyed. This rewatch of the newly released "Restored cut" was with my sweet in San Diego.
This is Tarsem Singh's one and only great movie.
The Fall reminds me of the story, on This American Life, of a little…
I can't remember to forget you.
You see, I have this condition. Twenty four years later, the movie still resonates. Even if it's a bit slower and doesn't pop like the Nolans we're used to. Rewatch with my sweet and students, first use of the new Dangbei projector. The story is still this clever reverse puzzle with an opener that is a stage rehearsal for Tenet. Some themes run deep and you keep returning to them.

Long Bright River is As Seen on TV.
While As Seen on TV's David Rimmer did not directed any episode of this Peacock series, he damn well should have.
What a waste of a perfectly fine Amanda Seyfried. I gave up after the first episode spent all of its running time teasing that the junkie was the cop lady's sister. Look, it does not take a PhD in Computer Science to guess after so many slo-mo flashbacks and so much silent emoting. Respect your audience. Respect yourselves. Get a proper job.
Errol Morris knows how to create an engaging tale. In this case we are watching a walkthrough of the Manson murders. Why revisit this old story you ask? Because of a conspiracy theory about the CIA, MKUltra and a program named Chaos. There is even a connection to the Kennedy assassination and allusions to the black panthers.
The conspiracy stuff did not really connect with me. What's left is a reminder of that horrid story with little insight.

A stain? At their best, movies are magnifying mirrors. Reflecting fragments of our own lives, only larger and in color. When we connect with them, they get us to feel.
Joker resonated with me in both small and significant ways. Arthur is a king’s name, and so is my last name—a whole dynasty of them in my country. And Fleck is, of course, my mother’s surname. As a young man, I was naïve and awkward, feeling disconnected from the world,…
This French movie about one of the most famous prostitution ring in my memory is definitive proof that sex can be boring.
