When Evil Lurks 2023

The first half of this thing fucking MOVES. For better or worse, those first 45 minutes waste no time getting into the horror- something I can always appreciate.
Our characters make some highly questionable decisions, which is standard horror fare, but it felt more frustrating than usual here because they play it completely straight.
The #1 thing this movie has going for it is the practical effects. There is some seriously impressive makeup and gore going on here, but it’s not quite enough to make up for my issues with the characters and pacing.
