I love the motifs in this film, the earthquakes and the small puddles, the uncanniness of a standing wave rippling on water. There’s a definite sense that the fabric of this world is paper thin, and every puddle is a rupture in that skin, a film that separates us from a dark and terrible ocean in those few inches of water, enough to drown in. The standing wave breaks the illusion of reflection, and when that reflection returns it no longer looks of our world, but its specular (spectral) opposite, a world we already belong to. I died, so everyone else should die too.
