The Town 2010
I was shocked how much I liked this movie. The pacing was kind of strange at the end, I feel like it ended quickly with not a lot of wind-down. Ben affleck was amazing, the poor girl he victimized and then seduced was a g for the end but is he wasn’t super subtle. Also not sure what happened with the ex and her kid, who somehow people thought was Ben’s kid the whole time? The dialogue was so moving though and I loved so many of these scenes.

La Chimera 2023
The tomb scene where air fills the dusty walls with beautiful frescoes as an obvious homage to Fellini’s Roma (1972) is just breathtaking. Beautiful movie and a solid contribution to the lineage of modern Italian film. Also Josh O’ Connor is quickly becoming my favorite actor of all time.

Important moral questions asked here, challenging for the viewer in a great and majorly disturbing way. At the very least the reason people should have empathy for those in the military. I am not jealous of the types of decisions people in high positions must make, especially with drone technology.

Lars and the Real Girl 2007
Easily my favorite Ryan Gosling film, which he took more roles like this. I think about this movie all the time. I’ve never seen something like it, and I love the concept. I love seeing stories of small communities, and to me that’s what this is. Brings me to tears every time I watch it. Also a good reminder for why everyone should be in therapy.
