Nickel Boys 2024
I loved the book and couldn’t wait to see the movie. But I did not like the first person narrative conceit which is the directors choice. I found it distracting and frustrating because I couldn’t take in the engagement of the person being spoken to. I thought there were too many stylistic elements that didn’t really move the story forward or connect you to the emotion. Big disappointment.

This is a misfire. If there wasn’t the movie The Talented Mr. Ripley to compare it to I might’ve liked it better, but it certainly paled enormously by comparison. The black-and-white may be stylish, but it takes away from the beauty and glamour of summertime in Italy, the Mediterranean with all sensuality. I’m a huge Bond fan so my reviews are admittedly biased to begin with. That being said I can say with impunity that this is one of the best. Daniel Craig is my favorite Bond of them all and in this his last outing he delivers a brawny robust human and passionate performance.
