the economy is shit and going to the cinema is my one last luxury in life
Loved this film!
Sean Baker was so clever - actively building something up in our minds, only to have it come crashing down in front of us at the end.
Normally, films made by men about women are riddled with bs, showcasing the fragile insecurity of men and their warped perceptions of themselves as heroes.
But the ending of Anora really proved that Baker gets it. He wanted his audience to understand, and to sit in their discomfort, too.
this film and story really put me through it. the most emotionally turbulent two hours I’ve experienced in a long time- i literally have the hiccups now from stress.
This film was honestly so much fun! The absolute drama, the perfectly timed humour - every line was so well thought out and it was pieced together so, so well.
