As a big fan of the novel, this felt like one of the best visualizations of the story yet. The set design! The casting! The shots! Haydee is here! All very good.
But also as a big fan of the novel, the almost three hour runtime was both too much and not enough. It felt like the movie tried to cover it all, and by doing so was too thin on much of the character development.
That said, it was great time. Would recommend.
Super tight, in just about every category. It’s got the laughs, it’s got the twists, it’s a blast.
Trying to think of a review for this film has been surprisingly tough. I enjoyed the watch, but when I think about the pieces I can’t help but focus on things I didn’t like (pacing, color grade, lighting, etc). So I really can’t even say I liked the film. But I also can’t say I didn’t like it. I guess I should probably delete this rambling and just go with, ‘it was okay, consider getting high before watching.’
