    an absolute fucking miracle. laugh out loud funny, uses 2D animation as an art rather than purely a medium (every single farmer jim moment made me laugh harder than the last) and manages to make the most looney tunes-feeling movie since what’s up doc? while only needing to use two characters rather than the entire stable. and neither of those characters are bugs bunny. kinda like how there are full muppet movies anchored by gonzo and rizzo instead of kermit.

    4k restoration of the original theatrical cut at the aero and you know what? i think i might like the director’s cut a little more. it’s a long movie as-is, and maybe there’s a “definitive cut” out there that includes more of the character development and fleshed-out subplots but still maybe shaves 5-10 off the director’s cut runtime?

    i mostly missed salieri being more of a dick — in this he’s still tortured by jealousy, but we don’t see him…
