I wasn't really paying any attention, but the vibes seemed mediocre-good. I'll go with that.
American Fiction strikes a nice balance between harsh satire and dramatic-comedy. It is an entertaining film, and provokes some thought, without leaving you feeling worn out. For what it is, it is good.
To set the scene:
It is a blustery and cool summer's day. The stern sea rocks the boat slightly, but the wind chill is high. Some clouds pass quickly through the sky, so I turn and enter the warm galley.
I see that on this fine ship, there is an on-board cinema (how novel!), and having found my sailor's legs (and stomach) - I think I can manage a movie.
Fortunately, the viewing-on-offer (Tenet) interests me -

Did I enjoy the lion king? Yes. The animation is lovely and it was pleasant viewing.
Did I think it was a nostalgic masterpiece? No. I wasnt allowed to watch it as a child, and it isn't *that* good. I have a few gripes with the story.
Firstly, the female characters are so under-developed they should be living in flatland.
After the movie, I realised the only female's name I could remember was "Nala". Did Simba's mum have a name?…
