This is a spectacular piece of cinema.
As a lifelong fan of all things DUNE, I gave my water.
Just finished watching the screener for Origin.
Four thoughts:
1. Ava DuVernay delivered pure poetry. It is visually beautiful and deeply emotional.
2. You MUST see this film. Based on a best selling book “Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents,” it is the defining story of the times.
3. We need to invest in more Kleenex. We are wrecked.
4. This film will earn nominations in several categories: Best Film, Best Director (Ava), Best Actor (Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor), Best Supporting Actress (Niecy Nash-Betts).
“American Fiction” delivers a satirical punch with Jeffrey Wright’s brilliant performance and Cord Jefferson’s skillful direction.
Adapted from Percival Everett’s “Erasure,” the film cleverly critiques literary and societal norms. Wright’s nuanced portrayal, coupled with Jefferson’s insightful direction, creates a compelling narrative that provokes thought while maintaining a satirical edge. Issa Rae, Sterling K. Brown, Tracee Ellis Ross, Syler Wright, Leslie Uggams, Erika Alexander, John Ortiz, and Adam Brody make up an amazing ensemble cast.
Sure to receive several nominations, the film is a standout piece of cinema that successfully blends wit, intellect, and social commentary. It’s a must see.
