    Nosferatu

    ★★★½

Visceral, grotesque, and not really sexy at all. Felt like an allegory for sexual trauma needing to be acknowledged. Extremely depressing that the curse of Nosferatu is exasperated by someone who has to convince others that her symptoms are real, constantly being blamed by her father, friends, and others for being a victim of (implied) assault as a child. Doesn’t get much more gothic than that :/

Don’t understand the people romanticizing Bill Skasgards Orlok. He was ugly and evil and a predator

Beautiful cinematography, extraordinary shots. Reminded me lots of bloodborne at times

Sadistic, narcissistic, violent, impulsive failure mansplains killing 60+ people to an intellectual, moral, Roman poet as they traverse through life, concepts, icons, and hell itself.

Super interesting and refreshing compared to other films featuring narrators with a proclivity for killing.

My first Lars von Trier film. He didn’t disappoint :)

Wrestling, mutilation, family curses, ruptured intestines, alcoholism, and brain damage all tied together through the actions of one negligent father. Cried probably 6 times, loved this movie.

The antithesis of a comfort movie/show

Had a panic attacked and cried (more than once) so hard it was debilitating and I was heaving and grasping for nothing, and holding my chest
