Was hoping for a good “true-story” focusing on journalism and ended up with a romcom war drama. The whole movie is messy and unremarkable, outside of a few funny jokes and overall good performance from Tina Fey, there’s little to take away. For a movie that seems to want to made for a “conscious” 21st century audience — focusing on women’s issues, journalistic integrity, the morality of conflict — it failed to ever move past a bunch of white people making jokes about the war of terror and vacationing in Afghanistan.
