  I thought this movie fucking sucked. I liked the 2018 movie well enough, mainly because it got the character of Michael Myers right. I guess this movie gets that right too, but all of the characters he kills throughout it are fucking awful. Which would be fine if it was at least entertaining.   I loved this movie. This is probably my favorite movie I’ve seen since maybe The Witch. It’s a pretty somber, serious movie with a great performance by Nicholas Cage. This is a meditation on loss and grief and an inability to move on. It’s a breath of fresh air to have a movie that relies so much on empathy. It’s like an anti-revenge movie, which is sad but never miserable.

  It is very simple, but I think this is just a really solid little ghost story. I like all of the characters and the framing device perfectly sets up what it is tonally.
