Movies are pretty neat.

I wouldn’t call myself a critic, really, so take my thoughts and rants with a grain of salt.

The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie

    ★★★½

Of all the baffling decisions made by Hollywood studio execs, I can’t understand why WB seems to be doing everything in their power to bury the Looney Tunes franchise. I grew up on these goofballs and the world needs them now more than ever! And aren’t these characters kinda like your corporate mascots? Even Disney wouldn’t be stupid enough to knee-cap Mickey’s popularity.

    Mickey 17

    ★★★½

A world away from his previous film, Mickey 17 reminds me of why I like Bong-Joon Ho as a director. He can go from prestige dramas to quirky Sci-fi satire pretty easily, while still maintaining a style that’s clearly his own.

    The Lion King

Paid tribute to a late legend, last night. Didn’t feel like watching Star Wars for the millionth time so I watched this, which I’ll admit I hadn’t seen since I was very little.

It’s always a nice feeling going back to a movie from your childhood and knowing it still holds up very well. Not that I needed the reminder on this one. It’s the freakin Lion King. It kicks ass. I know it, you know it. You can despise…

David Lynch’s most accessible movie is also his most depressing. I watched this one with a friend of mine (who may or may not be my dad) and he was a mess by the end of it. I’m not easily tearful and I didn’t think this would get me, no matter how good it was, but damn that last scene shook me pretty good.

The rest of the movie is also well made. The black and white and the dark…
