Adolescence 2025
The series was praised for its tracking shot style episodes and critiqued for it’s political message even coming off as a typical boomer series portraying gen z culture. Reading upon the one shot gimmick I was reluctant to start this show but the 4 episode limited series turns out to be a gripping British family drama with top tier acting and very intense turns. Without wanting to spoil anything I would highly recommend watching Adolescence and ignore the reviews and discussions about it online.

Go see it. Preferably without having seen its trailer beforehand, which basically gives the whole film away. Robert is great in multiple ways. Same for Ruffalo and Collette who are way over the top. I never want to eat a sauce again after this one… wait I’m starting to give it away. 3D printer! Peace out.

A Real Pain 2024
Having seen Kieran Culkin steal the show in Succession and Jesse Eisenberg play off Jason Segel in the End of the Tour, the billboards for this film kept triggering my interest. Their team up as brotherly cousins on a road trip does not disappointed.
Their holocaust tour through Poland could seem like tricky ground for comedy but both actors and supporting cast pull off that balance flawlessly. Similar as Taika Waititi with Jojo Rabbit, Eisenberg as a director knows exactly how to pace the comedic timing with its dramatic counterpart. Would highly recommend.
