Princess Mononoke 1997
This epic fantasy is truly ethereal, other worldly. The complexity of the characters, the story, the setting are unmatched in many modern and older works alike. The animation, while rouged and date, is a visual work of outstanding craftmanship. Innovational character design, vivid colors, and beautiful landscape is encompassed within the entirety of the piece. There is no animated film, at least one that I have observed, that has met all these standards. This is the epitome of Miyazaki's work and of anime as a genre.

Licorice Pizza 2021
This film is divergent from the norm of story telling, as there is truly no major conflict/resolution. Rather this movie is a story of life — a life which leads to love. Many will merly cast this aside as a poor or lazy writing, but this is without a doubt intentional. It is a story that does not conform to the three act structure of most narrative films. When that is executed as perfectly as this film does so, I don't mind that fact whatsoever.
