I honestly liked this a good bit more than the first. Probably because it has my Goatess in it. And she really does have the best parts near the end. I think the story was more captivating this time, and what can I say, I’m a sucker for touching moments.

“You’ve given me a lifetime of adventure, in one night…
    And I have a feeling it’s going to be a Beautiful Sunrise…”

Fun movie. I like the character a lot so it was cool to finally watch him in live action. And I know a lot of this movie is just mindless violence, but there is some deeperish moments. And if there’s two people who do mindless violence well it’s Aaron and Russell. All things considered not a bad villain origin story.

I feel like the world building of the first was better, but that is probably because it’s the first and had more to establish. I liked everything else about this more. The kids were much more grown up, the villains were more than just a lone opponent, and the battles were way more epic and much longer. Even if the battles seemed like a huge rip off of the final Lord of the Rings movie, I. Don’t. Care. I’m just such a sucker for having everything stacked against you, and needing to hold out just long enough for your allies to arrive.

What a great cast and it was led by the best of them all! Ben… Stiller?…
All jokes aside, he was actually quite good in this. There is almost no depth to this, save for Robin Williams because his goofy characters somehow always have some sort of sentimentality to them, and I could probably rate this a little lower, but this is a very original concept for a movie and is one of the first I remember so nostalgia will get some points here.
