Weird parallel with their prior movie Vox Lux, which (1) also threatened to be a fantastic movie before falling apart in the second half and (2) insisted on using Raffey Cassadey in two different roles, including having her play her own daughter. Weird.

Michelle Williams and Michael Meyer’s mask apparently went to the same eyebrow threader.

Very rarely do you watch a movie and know you’ve got an instant classic of the genre on your hands. It’s not perfect but, as others have remarked, it’s like a knowing love letter to so many slashers before it (Bloody Valentine, Scream) by a true fan of the genre. I’m not a gore fan (and not usually a Roth fan), but I particularly liked many of the Savini-like effects consciously scattered throughout. Again, this one will stand the test of time - just hope they don’t dilute it with sequels.

Only reason this isn’t a 3.5 or 4 is because they didn’t go for the ultimate homoerotic climax of them both going surfing in that final scene while handcuffed, which is what I expected. Absolutely the worst acting of Keanu’s career, but Patrick can create enough chemistry for the two of them… that acid line alone is enough to do away with that last lingering shred of heterosexuality
