I had high hopes for this movie, which is never a good thing.

I think my biggest complain about this movie is that I think it faced an identity crisis. I don't think it did any particular thing well. This was definitely on the artsy/slice-of-life end of the spectrum that makes it harder for me to enjoy a movie. I think I can appreciate the journey that Killian goes on, but it's the kind of movie that's much more about the feelings and "hows" rather than the events and the "whats," which aren't at all my forte. This movie kept me captivated the whole time, even though it was a pretty unoriginal movie. I felt that it veered basically 0% away from the default "rescue movie" template, but that didn't detract too much from my enjoyment of the movie. The acting was nothing to write home about, but I enjoyed the cinematography and the score. The shots of the boat in the storm were especially cool.

I don't think this movie distinguishes itself in a memorable way, but still a pleasant way to spend a Monday evening after work.

I'm writing this 5 days after I watched the movie.

For the first hour or so of this movie, I was gripped. I feel this is a trend among movies -- I am enticed by the premise and onset of a movie, and I'm hoping for the best possible of an infinite number of potential endings. As the movie gets closer to its end, I realize it's not going to end in the satisfying kind of way that I'm imagining.…
