Nosferatu 2024
Willem Dafoe’s appearance was jarring but I settled in to it.
I truly truly loved this. I loved the way a lot of “lore” was not overly explained. I loved that the demon was a hideous beast and not a James Bond looking handsome devil. I loved how erotic the possession of Helen was.
The ~almost~ black and white-ness of the film was a joy. When the sun rose, I had forgotten just how little color and light there was…

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre 1974
Gorgeous movie. Absolutely bonkers sounding movie. My dad sent me a long text once about how a lot of the people who choose to live in the middle of nowhere or were born there and never left tend to be antisocial. They feel like society has left them behind and so they become angry and abusive, and often alcoholics. Every now and then I’ll get a good long, beautifully written text from my dad but usually just short ones. Always said he should write a memoir because he has so many good stories. Great movie.
