I wouldn’t complain if two Rob Pattinsons showed up in my room either.

This film showcases what we love about Bong Joon-ho’s work: a unique zaniness coupled with sharp sociopolitical commentary and anchored by incredible performances by some of the most versatile actors in the business. At times, the themes felt derivative of his other works just told in a messier format, but the Trump/Elon-ness of Mark Ruffalo’s character make it clear how relevant and important this satire is. And I loved the critique of their quest for sauce!

Truly ahead of its time and it’s important to pay homage to a film that paved the way for some of my favorite space sci-fi films. Appreciated the stunning cinematography and powerful score. But I’m glad cinema has evolved and we know that we don’t have to sacrifice good narrative storytelling while making cinematic art.

Grading it on a curve because it is part of cinema’s most groundbreaking, personal enjoyment aside.
