Sean Baker is an expert at luring you into a comedic love story, full of club lights and blasting music — before racketing up the tension, implying a turn for the worst. Instead of pulling the expected punch, he opts to meander out of this external plot line and let us sit with utter devastation. Mikey Madison is genuinely giving an all time performance here. She emotes with her eyes, granting us the blissful insight into Annie’s psyche, showing us…

Had the absolute pleasure to watch this alongside a Q&A from director RaMell Ross and cinematographer Jomo Fray. It was a delight hearing them speak so fondly about their passion for this project. Ross reflected on the frequent use of “space race” imagery throughout the film as a direct contrast to the lived experiences of our protagonists. 100% need a rewatch (and some subtitles!!), but this was funnnn, a taut 90 minute thriller with Yas from Industry, Cate Blanchett absolutely eating DOWNNN in every single outfit, and overall just a bunch of people looking sneaky and hot? Yeah sign me up for this again, my fav Soderbergh in years

The director said this was his passion project 10 years in the making — yup I could tell because these memes are giving 2014…

Basically a nonstop barrage of cringey memes clouding what could have been a very interesting examination of a woman trapped in a corporate power struggle, unable to voice her freedom because she was never given the opportunity. There’s definitely something interesting under the surface (Betsy Brown is fantastic), but the onslaught of in your face memes is so tired and abrasive. Would’ve maybe worked as a short? After 20 minutes you really just mentally check out.

“Expected guest” Chloe cherry not there😞🥺

Now thissss is how you make a fucking biopic. The trio of rappers did such a good job acting that even though I had googled them before the movie and knew they were playing themselves, I was constantly astounded by their performances. The intro is a punchy Spike Lee-esque foray into the heart of Belfast — we’re introduced to Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí, the three members of the band that would come to be known as Kneecap.…
